Ancient Thai (commonly known as Thai Yoga) massage originated in Nepal during the same time as the birth of Buddhism. The goal of Thai massage is to align the energies within the body so a constant flow can happen. The massage focuses on the major meridians (energy lines) to harmonise the body as well as undo and prevent energy blocks. This helps heal injury and also prevents sickness. What makes this massage unique is that it is practised on the floor and incorporates yoga stretches. It is a great complimentary practice to yoga
I look at Thai Yoga as a counter practice to the asana limb of yoga. In asana (poses) we move, strength and balance our physical body. Although allow the breath to move the body, practicing each pose does take to creating soreness. Thai Yoga complements the body, by bringing harmony to the flow of energy.
I approach the body with a kind and caring touch. I treat each massage as a new conversation with the body. Understanding it, as I understand the person inside as well. I try to develop a friendship with each client, that way we form trust between each other, as well as I know their personality that living within the body I am massaging.
Note: Thai massage is practised with the client fully clothed, so remember to wear loose comfortable clothing that you can move freely in.
